What We Can and Do For YOU!

People who quietly and consistently do the right thing, are often remiss to toot their own horn. When we work alongside these people, it’s our job to let others know what sets them apart from the pack.

A long-term client/couple have recently undergone serious health issues which put their household in crisis mode. They’ve been left asking: can we continue to live independently in our home, if we do, how does our life change? If we cannot, where do we go, what facilities are available and how do we start this process with very limited time? With no family members in the immediate area, one of our advisors has been there every step of the way for them.  Going above and beyond what many would do, simply because it is the right thing to do. When he saw that the clients needed help, and no one else was available, the advisor stepped in and assisted with the following:

  • Helped the client make changes to Power of Attorney Documents by working directly with the attorney and delivering documents to the clients for execution

  • Met the client at the hospital several times

  • Picked up and drove the client to his spouse's rehab session and helped assess her ability to live independently

  • Connected the client with an expert to find suitable living and medical arrangements

  • Sat in all meetings with the client to ensure their wishes were communicated clearly and that all other professionals were on the same page to reach the same goal.

I am proud to work with a team of advisors who constantly go beyond the call of duty to help our clients live their best life. To me, these actions illustrate a couple of very important things.

Do you have your ducks in a row when and if (and it’s very likely a when and not an if) crisis hits? If you are unsure, it’s something we should start talking about more often, and in more depth during our meetings. Are you working with an advisor who does more than investment management? Are you working with an advisor who truly cares and who will take the necessary steps in times of need?

For clients and prospective clients who may ask why? Why pay advisory fees? Why not go with a one size fits all? Why do you ask so many questions when we meet? The story above is why. May it remain a cautionary tale for you and your loved ones; but it is the reason we do what we do, we ask what we ask, and why we believe we offer a superior client experience.

If you look on our website, have an initial meeting with an Affinity Wealth Management advisor, or are a client, you will hear us talk about holistic planning and helping you live a full life. We want to know if you’re thinking of buying a house – we’ll model out the best way to pay for it. We want to know what your estate plan looks like, who manages your affairs if you are unable to, are your beneficiaries up to date? To name a few.  Often, our questions seem out of the purview of a financial advisor, but they are not out of the purview of a great financial advisor. We care.
